5 Reasons to Have Professional Senior Photos

These days everyone and their brother owns a camera, or a smartphone with a quality camera. It’s really easy to have a family member or a friend shoot your senior portraits because they’re starting their journey in photography, or they want to get into photography and you’d be helping them out. There are a lot of things to consider when hiring your senior portraits photographers. Here are 5 reasons to hire a professional photographer:

1.) Knowledge

Professional photographers spend hours, days, months, and years continuously learning how to capture better photos, improve their camera skills, give you the best experience possible, and so much more. We take online or in-person courses, attend professional conferences, hire mentors and coaches, and travel across the country to attend workshops to be the best we can be for you. Those that have this kind of knowledge and drive are bound to provide you with a high-class experience, great photos, and crazy cool stories you can tell your classmates.

2.) Locations

Not only do professional photographers invest a lot of time and energy into education and improving our skills, but we also invest time and energy into scouting great locations to shoot at. When I say we spend time on scouting great locations I mean we go full investigator mode! Ya know how you get when you’re trying to find someone on social media? That’s how we are trying to find the perfect shooting spot! We drive around scouting locations, we search Facebook groups, we have apps, and we scour through social media to find tagged locations. We can provide you with the adventure, the luxury, the class, or even the rustic locations.

3.) Connections

An awesome part of being a professional photographer is the connections we have with other professionals that work with us to offer you an awesome, one-of-a-kind senior portrait experience. We often have partnerships with professional hair stylists, makeup artists, nail artists, and sometimes boutiques. We tend to partner with the best of the best that also are able to offer a quality experience for you!

4.) Vision, Guidance, and Direction

Nine times out of ten the clients we work with are not comfortable posing themselves or comfortable at all in front of the camera when we begin shooting, so we’re great at posing you, giving you direction, and helping you relax and get comfortable in front of the camera! A favorite part of the Devin Ramon Photography senior portrait experience is how easy it is to feel natural while posing because I get to know you before your session and use what I’ve learned to give you relatable prompts and easy posing direction to get the best reactions, natural looks, and comfortable expressions!

5.) Editing Skills

It is not at all uncommon for client to have natural blemishes at the time of their session. It’s also not uncommon for clients to have flyways, or for a person to walk into the shot and be in the background, so professional photographers have the editing skills to remove those things without sacrificing the quality, style, or vibe of your photos. We can also adjust other things like lighting, color, and perspective.
